How Far Would You Go For a Sausage?

Admittedly the answer to that question is usually the six steps it takes me to get to the kitchen. If I wanted the best sausage sandwich in the bay though there is only one place to go and only one way to get there. Get on a ferry, take a little hike get yourself to The Guardhouse Cafe and order a Vegan Super Sausage. Which is basically two giant door stops of beautiful bread and half a packet of Linda McCartney’s Finest. HP and Ketchup are available.

What really impresses us about The Guardhouse is that it is in an amazing location. It’s right in the middle of a Napoleonic Fort, on a gorgeous headland. A lot of local cafes would use that as an excuse to put in very little effort. The Guardhouse puts on a great menu of cafe favourites, only better than you’ve ever had before, and specials. They are also, without a doubt, the most dog friendly cafe around. Vegan friendly too with soy milk and cake as well as the aforementioned Super Sausage.

If you are around Brixham pop in. You don’t have to take the ferry if you don’t want to.
